What is M.U.G.E.N?
M.U.G.E.N is a freeware 2D fighting game engine developed by Elecbyte. The most recent version of M.U.G.E.N to be publicly released is version 1.1 Beta 1, which was released on August 7th 2013. M.U.G.E.N allows users (typically known as "authors" or "creators") to create content for the engine such as (but not limited to) characters and stages for others to download and add to their game, or just to keep for themselves, as well as fully-fledged fighting games. Being a fighting game engine at heart, M.U.G.E.N takes inspiration from a variety of classic fighting game series such as Street Fighter and The King of Fighters, featuring a seven-button combat system (, , , , , , and ), typically representing three punches, three kicks, and a taunt, though characters are not limited to having those presets, with many opting to use fewer buttons and less traditional button layouts. M.U.G.E.N has a fairly large community, with multiple forums and sites dedicated to the engine, as well as many internet videos with the purpose of teaching users how to use and customise the engine or (more commonly) broadcasting M.U.G.E.N fights.

How did I create my final mugen roster?
I started creating my final mugen roster about two years ago, when I discovered M.U.G.E.N and was amazed by the possibilities it offered. I wanted to make a game that would include all of my favorite characters from different media and genres, and have them fight in epic battles across various stages. I searched online for the best sources of mugen content, such as [Mugen Free For All], [Mugen Archive], [Mugen Fighters Guild], and [Mugen Database]. I downloaded hundreds of characters and stages from these sites, as well as some screenpacks, lifebars, sound effects, music, and other resources. I tested each character and stage for compatibility, quality, balance, and fun factor. I also edited some of them to fix bugs, adjust stats, add moves, change palettes, etc. I used a program called VSelect to organize my roster and select the characters and stages I wanted to include in my game. I also used a program called Fighter Factory to edit the files and code of the characters and stages. I chose a screenpack called IMT (Blue) by user Acey, which can hold up to 3360 characters and has a nice interface and design. I modified it to fit my preferences and needs. I also created some custom portraits for some of the characters using Photoshop.
